Flexport is building the future of global trade, and as a Software Development Engineer I in the SMB (Small and Medium Business) division, you’ll play a key role in shaping the self-serve platforms that empower smaller merchants to simplify and scale their logistics operations. This team is at the heart of automating and optimizing shipping processes for a $10 trillion industry.

You’ll work on meaningful engineering challenges such as inventory management, fulfillment automation, and wholesale distribution—directly improving warehouse operations, customer efficiency, and merchant reach.

Flexport's recent merger with Deliverr has added powerful capabilities to its platform, and you’ll help extend those as part of a fast-paced, high-impact engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and write flexible, maintainable, and scalable code
• Lead initiatives and own projects with minimal supervision
• Safeguard and improve code quality through thoughtful code reviews
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to build impactful technical solutions
• Build and release code daily in a fast-paced, agile environment
• Develop features that directly support merchant growth and inventory flow
• Dive deep into logistics and supply chain challenges (and geek out about them!)

Key Technical Skills:

JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Node.js, React, Redux, Jest, Docker, AWS, RDS, GitHub, Buildkite, Agile Development, System Design

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of hands-on software development experience
• Strong coding skills with a focus on performance and maintainability
• Proven ability to design and ship reliable, well-tested features
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Java)
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate technical ideas clearly
• Self-motivated problem-solver with a growth mindset
• Willingness to work in a hybrid environment and contribute actively to team culture
